ESET Security Review

ESET offers a range of plans for Windows, macOS and Android. The plans include a no-cost one which is ideal for security basics, while the more expensive plans include features such as parental controls and password management and encryption of data. The most expensive package also has a gaming mode to prevent unauthorized access to your computer’s hardware while you play.

The software doesn’t take long to install and setup is easy. It doesn’t bludgeon your computer with bloatware, neither. There are a few additional options but the majority of tools and features are available on the left sidebar.

A new feature, called Connected Home Monitor is a handy visual representation of your network and all devices that are connected to it. You can use it to look over your network for vulnerabilities, such as open ports or weak passwords for routers.

Another notable feature is a pop-up which is displayed every time you insert a USB storage device. You can decide to scan the drive instantly or have the program do so automatically, and in the event you don’t want to run a full scan you can still launch an on-demand check.

Advanced users will appreciate being able to choose how much of the suite is checked. You can specify the number of folders, files and specific items that the program will examine. You can define how thoroughly the program should scan archives, if you want to exclude certain types of data.
